Sometimes we are bound by blood, sometimes by friendship.
Sometimes by the crossing of life paths, many times by faith.
But always by love.
That’s (the real) family.

 As for this storm,
we will go forth, in grace alone.

BEFORE D-DAY

Yesterday afternoon, g, Budz, dan nyokap arrived in S Hosp, Tangerang (2,5 hrs from Bdg). Bokap kaga ikut krn mslh DM-nya itu bikin susah ngatur makanannya, lagian dia mana kuat suru nungguin di RS. Jd g & nyokap yg pergi. Babe ditinggal di rmh bareng my aunt. Begitu nyampe, kami nunggu di lobby RS (dgn sofa empuknya) for another 1,5 hrs for Suster ‘S’ (SS) to showed up (after work).
SS ini one of Budz’ friend from Unpad Nursing School dan KSR PMI Unpad. Dia jadi tutor di nursing school sblh RS sjk Nov 2010. Sblmnya dia kerja 2 thn di ICU RS I, Bdg. Beberapa waktu sblm op, Budz kontak2 dia dan singkat cerita, dia nawarin u/ stay di kost-annya pre & post op. Kosnya gak jauh dari RS. So, diputuskan u/menumpang di kost-annya. Stl bikin janji sama dia, g baru tau SW – my XSerukam senior – juga stay di kompleks deket situ.
Selidik punya selidik ternyata SS itu anak KoPem (Komisi Pemuda Paskal) & her long lasting boyfriend juga orang Paskal (what a small world No.1). A good girl, funny, capetang (bhs “Jerman”nya talkative)(haha), helping hand (very much!), & an idealistic nurse =) Like her instantly.

MELLOWPATHY, RIDICULOPATHY, & CERVICALARITY (part One)

As I sit down in the top of the downhill runway, I stare at the beautiful sky.
The slight purple-blue color turns into a gleaming orange light.
The sky is so vast, with a soft stroke of clouds, like a carpet above me.
Here & there birds singing joyfully, welcoming the beautiful sunset.
The Painter is showing His work of art. This is a nice way to end a tiring & hectic day.

But life isn’t always that simple.

I took a leave to attend my best friend’s wedding at the end of the week. She was going to marry Serukam’s future obstetrician ;D (it’s a small world after all). Then out of the blue, my brother announced the out striking news.
Sebelumnya dia udah berobat ke 2 neurolog & dikasih high dose Bcomp u/ keluhan neuropatinya, but no further testing/anything. Kami memutuskan u/ konsul pada dr. SG, the lady w/ the bright mind & yg terpenting memiliki curiosity over something (bkn cm terima doang & ga nyari lg further cause-nya). Dulu dia dosen kami dan salah satu dosen pembimbing my bro wkt skripsi.
Dr. SG mulai dengan pemeriksaan paling mendasar. Rontgen tulang leher and the result was still OK, cuma spasme otot aja.
The MRI showed a mass inside his cervical spinal cord, suspect ependymoma. Sebuah benjolan menghuni dan bertumbuh di dalam medulla spinallis daerah leher, menyebabkan penekanan ke serabut2 saraf disekitarnya, yg mengakibatkan symptoms dia selama ini.
This is so weird. Begitu pikiran g waktu itu. Don’t know for sure how to react. This is the first time somebody was having tumor in my close family. My clinical mind instantly taking control. What’s next? What are our options? But my heart was grieving too. The possibility of losing my only bro was unimaginable. And at that time, I was thinking about our parents & aunt. We didn’t want to make them worry or sad. But the truth must be revealed.
But first, we were going to consult dr.SG about the result before telling our family.
